Sefton...

Who hasn't wanted to stick a knife in Sefton at some point? Finally, Neiran's the lucky one who gets to do it.

Or, in which Sefton manipulates Neiran's reactions even while they discuss his death, Penny throws a hissy fit, Neiran makes an important realisation about two people in the same room as him, and Sefton commits incriminating things to writing. Fun and games for all! I award Neiran five squids, my highest accolade, for making surgery fun.

( I would not feel entirely comfortable with being cut open, Neiran, and that is also something that might be fatal. )

So, a little while ago in this scene here, Sefton said some things to Penny, or something to Penny, that she did not say back, and it was just amazing RP. She has written a vignette to go with it that I now shamelessly pimp to you all, because woah, I know when I am out of my league. It is to be found right here.

End of this month, we get Penny back from the throes of school and other beastly things, so all start getting warmed up for that. I'm also hoping to be RPing again by then. Thank you also to those of you who've contacted me to express your sympathy. My sister's stable, and slowly improving, which is giving us cause for optimism.

Directly on the heels of this scene (last two poses included for context), Sefton writes back to Jarvais, in response to this letter.

About a month after her birthday, Sefton gives Penny the gifts that have come for her from Boll.

( Sometimes our ulterior motives are honourable. )

Sefton and Neiran carry out their plan, and witness Ganathon, once G'thon's, passing. Neiran's attempt at humour is so bad that it appears to kill the old man. He really needs to work on that. Sefton comes up with a rather cool project for his students in the future, but I bet nobody gives him credit for that, huh? Just because some other stuff is going on, yeesh...

I link to G'thon's journal, because you simply must see his icon. Mad props to Neiran, of course. The journey he's made, since he came to Caucus, is just something to behold. I'm very proud to have been a part of it. G'thon -- really, no words. Thank you so much, and I hope we managed the send-off okay.

Sefton and Neiran put in place the finishing touches on the dark plans.

After a short hiatus for which I blame my employment, another log.

It is Sefton's birthday, and Penny claims the evening for herself, and a picnic in his quarters. Admissions are made, and words of significance are spoken.

( Very foolish. )

Penny and Sefton muck about, and discuss reactions to the arrivals of the exiles, a bit. Usual mush warning goes here, although it's not /all/ that bad.

( Insensible. )

Lorna drops by as Sefton eats lunch, and returns the book that Sefton then gives to Neiran in the scene posted prior to this. Let's do the time warp again... They speak of the Instigators, and how history is recorded.

( What a history that would be. )

Ginella discovered something in G'thon's desk that awoke in her a suspicion as to how Yevide died. Ginella brought this information to Sefton.

Sefton now brings this information to Neiran. Sefton also suggests a solution. Neiran agrees to this solution.

This is, hands down, one of the best scenes I have ever been lucky enough to be involved in. I play better, as I have for a long time now, simply to make sure I am good enough to deserve what Neiran throws at me. I have no idea how to express the extent to which this scene just rocked me. It is the culmination of three IC turns of relationship building between Sefton and Neiran. Sefton is a Master Politician. This is what he does.

The extent to which he is genuine in the thoughts and emotions he conveys to Neiran, I leave to you to decide.

Such a long way we have come, since Sefton used to regularly reduce Ginella to tears for his own amusement. While waiting on G'thon, Ginella discovered something very concerning. She brings what she has discovered to Sefton.

It is not often I point to a log and go: Yes, that one, we nailed it.

So, this one. We nailed it.

Penny comes to tell Sefton that she's been asked to design a walkway. They talk, and digress into other areas, namely the uses of serving girls (enter innuendo) and after a fashion, their relationship. There is verbal fencing, innuendo, much that goes unsaid, and some very revealing things that, for once, are said out loud.

( Observation is education, I was once told. )

Sefton and Ginella discuss her time at Benden, and then move on to discuss the creation of Pern's first think tank. This is the sort of conversation that happens somewhere, sometime in a quiet back room, and then years later, changes the world. Mad props to Ginny, who made it awesome. For those who remember the early days, when Sefton gave Ginny nightmares and made her cry, this is a beautiful demonstration of how far she's come, and how her player has slowly evolved her.

Late one night, before Penny creeps out of Sefton's bed and back to the barracks, he and she speak of the future, and don't get very far. Another little glimpse of humanity, for those who doubt he possesses any.

Sefton catches Paige going through his things, and then they have a conversation. Sefton gets (most of) what he wants, and Paige isn't quite sure what she gets. More than she thinks, actually.

Sefton is making good on his promise to help Lorna with her reading, although they spend more time talking than practicing. She fans the flames of his curiosity higher, and they speak of many things.

( You like puzzles. )

Sefton drops by to offer belated congratulations to R'vain upon his ascension, and to offer his counsel on the subject of the Council. It goes surprisingly well, considering, and there is cherry brandy involved.

( That's th'arrangement, then? Th'deed I've inherited? Caucus and with it, counsel from th'Headmaster? )

Reyce comes to see Sefton with an education related request, to which Sefton agrees. Talk strays to strategery (oh yes, it's a word, didn't you know?) and specifically, to Nabol and Reyce's future.

( And why would I do that. )
